Got Your Back!

The Universe Has Your Back... always!

It has been months since I have written anything on my blog.  Life has been hectic and I have experienced drastic changes in our family life that have set up road blocks to sharing.  Then it was just a matter of needing the right thing to share after such a long break.  I’ve had countless opportunities to write a little something about cooking, yoga, meditation, family, my work on True Bliss Living, and other lifestyle curation topics.  Each and every time something held me back from writing.  But then the universe sent me a clear message of what my first writing assignment was after my long break.

In 2009 I read a lovely book entitled “Add More Ing to Your Life: A Hip Guide to Happiness” by a young lady named Gabby Bernstein. I had just been certified as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach after healing from years of chronic illness and was on a path of self-discovery, nourishment and transformation. This book blew my mind!  The only hang up I had was that she was a young 20-something, single, living in New York City and I was 36 year old stay at home mom living in the suburbs, married, with two young kids.  I loved everything about the book otherwise.  As the years went by I watch the growth of her message and purchased every book and watched every offering that I could get my hands on, all the while still trying to let go of my hang-ups.

Then I didn’t follow her for awhile but in 2012, when I moved to Boulder and her book “May Cause Miracles” was published I visited her website again.  I discovered that she had added teaching Kundalini Yoga to her practice.  Kundalini Yoga was something I had experienced in 1999 when I was pregnant with my daughter but never bothered asking what type of yoga it was. It was a practice I loved but lost touch with the teacher when I took a break after the birth of my daughter and then my son only a year and a half later.  I had been searching for it but was unable to find it again until that point.  I took it as a sign from the universe.  I worked with her book and searched for a Kundalini Yoga class in Boulder only to discover it was taught at the studio where I took classes 4-5 times a week.  Thank you universe!

Since 2012 I have trained and been certified in Emotional & Behavioral Eating, Lifestyle Meditation and Kundalini Yoga each time missing Gabby’s Spirit Junkie Master’s Workshop training.  This summer I made the full commitment during the busiest time of my life to take the workshop in NYC and now jumping into Spirit Junkie Master’s Workshop Level 2 in November.

The hang-ups I had in the beginning have long disappeared, discovering it was my fear and ego holding me back and making judgments.  Now I experience miraculous shifts in my life which are not always pleasant but always important.  I am growing, learning and healing every day.  I love the what she has provided for me and the message she shares with the world.

Last week Gabby published her latest book “The Universe Has Your Back, Transform Fear to Faith.”  This by far is the best book she has ever written.  The delivery and the lessons she provides is indescribable and invaluable.  It is showing me how much I have transformed and healed to reconnect with my true self, the lessons I still have to learn, how I can serve others, and how much more love the universe holds.  I am so truly honored to learn from Gabby and learn even more next month in her Level 2 Spirit Junkie Workshop Training.  And beyond that I hope she knows how grateful I am for her work and the service she has provided me, for me and for all others who have received the gift of experiencing her message and her light.  Thank you Gabby!

My Personal Sadhana

As I am going through my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training. I have incorporated a more committed daily yoga and meditation practice. Today is such a beautiful day so I decided to move my practice outside on my balcony. Here is what my space looks like and the beautiful view I have as I sit on my lotus meditation cushion.  This is True Bliss Living at its best!

The Adventure Begins, super early!

It’s currently 3:21am and I am on the bus heading to the Denver airport to catch my 6am flight to Costa Rica for my Kundalini yoga retreat. So excited to be spending my 40th birthday with meditation, yoga and reflection.

I am excited to get away by myself but feel strange at the same time going on a vacation without the kids or hubby. It’s a first for me.

Getting away like this was something I felt I needed to move into my next decade. I am so grateful to my husband and kids for convincing me to go on this trip.  And grateful to have the opportunity to do a trip like this for myself.

Finding the True Me, My New Ventures

Things have been a bit crazy for our family over the last year.  Moving across country from Northern Virginia to Boulder, Colorado was an experience.  Moving to a new place where we did not know a single person, a place far from home, family, and everything we knew took some time to adjust.  I spent the last year getting the kids settled into new schedules, new schools, new activities, new home, and a new city and state.  It was a big learning experience and we have grown so much as individuals and as a family.

The best thing is that it was all worth it.  Everything, the good and the bad.  Starting a new life took a lot out of us but we are so much better for it.

Now that things have settled and we have gone through multiple friends and family members from the east and west coast visiting us to support our move I am looking forward to 2014.  Usually January is the time to evaluate and make resolutions or plans for change.  For me that starts right around now.  The weather is a bit colder and my birthday is just around the corner.  I like to look back and learn from the things I experienced and I like to look forward to the up coming future ahead.

Recently I enrolled in a certification program for the Psychology of Eating.  My interest in the program has been with me for several years and I am so lucky to be able to take part in this amazing program.  I enrolled in this program as part of my self discovery and enrichment gift to celebrate turning 40.  More on what else is included in my gift to myself this birthday.

As I go through my demanding studies I am making very large realizations about myself and making some ever lasting shifts in my thinking, behavior and actions.  So very exciting and exactly what I needed going into my next decade.

My personal and family life is incredible and I am so blessed and grateful.  But professionally it can be a struggle balancing my responsibilities as a wife, mother, home manager and my career.  I was under the impression that as the kids grew I would have less issue with this struggle but I am finding that older kids are much more demanding of my attention and time.  Funny how the role of a parent is never ending.

Going through my certification program and experiencing the other self discovery and enrichment gifts I am giving myself for my birthday this year I can feel the transformation and evolution.  I am totally welcoming and embracing all the changes.

I am excited to announce that one of the changes I have been experiencing is the direction of my health coaching practice and my love of crafting.  In the past I have taught craft classes and worked as a scrapbook designer.  In recent years I switched my focus into the field of health coaching but have taken the last year off due to our big move.  The thing is I love both and both give me such joy.  Yet I was always struggling because I felt I had to choose one over the other.  What I realize is that I don’t have to choose.  That I simply need to find a peaceful balance that will give me a sense of fulfillment, accomplishment, satisfaction and joy.

I like to share with you my new exciting ventures into finding balance and the True Me.

First is my health coaching practice.  Check out my new website where you can check out some of new exciting offerings.  I am so excited to share my passion for health, nutrition, cooking, and food.
